Hi, I have a friend on LJ who is a seeking Christian--she's turned off by what she views as male dominance in the Scriptures. I'm asking you to pray about this situation and what I might respond to her as a Christian--my only thoughts being, well, God has created Male and Female and we have different strengths and weaknesses and the Bible isn't meant to be "against" women--women were created differently and have different roles endowed by their Creator. Huh.
I feel lame at this response and ask for prayer and I'll respond within 24 hours to her feminist comments--although, the way she worded her post--she's truly seeking. Any advice or Scripture references would be helpful.

Father,
Thank you that this friend of ksaraah is seeking you. Please use ksaraah to help her.
Help this friend to understand the Bible which says that we Christians are to submit to one another--not merely that wives should submit to husbands.
Ephesians 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Help her to understand that the Scriptures were written in social settings where what we refer to as "male dominance" was the norm and God inspired the Scriptures to be written in that context.
Help her to realize that certain parts of the Bible were written to address specific problems in existance at the time of the writing.
Help her to realize that God instructs us all (women and men) to yield to one another.
Help her to understand that whole thrust of Bible is to love God and to love one another, not to seek dominance over one another.
John 15: 12-13 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Luke 10:25.On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26."What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"
27.He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "
28."You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."
It is in the name of Jesus Christ that I pray for ksaraah's friend and thank you for all that you will do. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father I lift up ksaraah to you.
I pray Lord you will help her to speak your love and truth to her friend.
I pray that her friends heart will be open to your truth and your word.
Lord I pray that her friend will see that your love is the same for all your children.
Lord I pray that you will be in the midst of this situation.
I pray that the friend who is seeking will find you and see the abundance of love you have for her
Be with these friends Lord,
Bless them as they strive to seek truth and understanding
May you be glorified Lord

I pray for your friend and that her eyes be opened. Here is a link to faithwriters.com of my senior paper on Feminism, Scriptures and how Jesus dealt with women.
Faithwriters: Jesus View of Women. Jesus actually empowered women and gave them positions in the church and honored their individuality. Something completely unheard of in first century.

Note too, that when man was alone, God saw that it wasn't good - and the solution was WOMAN! We're an answer to a problem.
Additionally, we are created in the image of God, so God has attributes of both, and complete understanding and empathy of both.
You could point out to your friend that when social rules dictated that men did not talk to women, Jesus ignored the social rules and talked to them anyway. He treated them like intelligent human beings with feelings and lives.
So all men and others are to go and do likewise ...

I think there is some very good answers for your friend on this thread.
Father, I ask that You would help ksaraah, as she wittneses to her friend. Help her to know just what to say and how to say it. Prepare her friend's heart also Lord. We know that all we can do is plant the seed. That it is You, who causes it to grow. You are the reaper. Bless ksaraah and her friend. In Jesus name. Amen.
