A picture I got, wrote it down and would like to share with you. Hope you find this encouraging.
a vision of Jesus...
There’s a man who wants to enter into the kingdom of heaven. He is standing before this gigantic throne where God the Father is sitting. The only problem is this man is two inches tall in comparison to the God the Father. Now Jesus is next standing beside the throne and he towers into the heavens, his glorious person filled with blinding light.
So the Father asks the little man,
"Why should I let you enter into my Kingdom where only goodness and light dwell and no sin or evil of any kind live?"
So the little two inch man starts listing in this tiny squeaky voice his good works. he's dressed in a business suit all clean and pressed, holding a brief case, looking like a well groomed, professional lawyer proudly presenting his case. Its really comical to hear him because he can in no way measure up to the goodnes and holiness of Jesus towering beside the Father’s throne. It becomes more and more appartent that Jesus is the only standard of goodness that the Father will accept.
Now this man bragging on his good words is becoming annoying. Jesus steps towards the man. The man looks up into his dazzling brillance and there is no limit to Jesus’ height. Jesus could easily crush this man with his foot. The poor little guy is terrified but continues to try and plead his case why his good works should allow him into the Kingdom. Now I see Jesus’ face and its filled with tender compassion. He bends towards the little man and lifts him into his hand. of course the man is thinking, "what’s he gonna do with me?" He cowers, covering his head expecting the worst.
I can see more clearly Jesus’ robe and its filled with what appears to be living diamonds. Also Jesus’ hand is wounded and there is a wound in his side. He smiles at the tiny man and slips him into his wounded side. The man becomes one of the living diamonds in Jesus’ robe. now he is hidden in Jesus. Jesus turns to the viewer of the vision and says, "This is what I desire to do with you."
Its clear that the Father accepts this man into the kingdom because he is now a part of the only standard of goodness the Father will allow -Jesus.
"I am the Vine. You are the branches. Apart from me you can do nothing." -Jesus, John 15

I also have had a vision of Jesus.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

I often look back at some of the things that I have done, before coming to know the Lord and wish that I had known Him much sooner. What mistakes I have made, what stupid and bad things. I remember when I was around five years old. I had this best friend who use to live just up the road. We use to have so much fun together. Well I had so much fun, that when it was getting late and he had to go home. I one day started to beat him up, because I did not want him to go. He use to go home crying, and soon he never ever came back. His mum put a stop to him coming down to my place. What a horrible thing for me to do. What a selfish thing. Beating on my best friend because I didn't want to stop playing. I still feel bad about it even today. What a horrible person I was, and what a good person God is for saving me nonetheless. I thank God for His goodness and giving me a new direction in life. I often wonder what kind of person I would be today if the Father Had not drawn me to His Son. It must be the same for everyone. We have nothing to boast about save for what God has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ. Without God's intervention, we would be depraved people, void of any good or truth. Every Christian has something to thank and certainly praise God about.

I submit that if anyone stands before the Throne and still thinks their "good" works has any merit in gaining access to heaven, Jesus will reply, as He states in scripture, "I never knew you, depart from me."

I don't think "good works" are inequities. Inequities are injustices or unfair actions.
I believe he's referring to seeing your works burned up because they were done for the wrong purposes - not out of love.
1 Cor. 3:10-15:
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.

I am not so sure that our "good works" will count for nothing before God and that He will say: "I never knew you; depart from me."
This doesn't seem to agree with Jesus saying: "Not everyone who calls me 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only those who do what my Father in Heaven wants them to do." Matthew 7:21
There are many who believe, rightly or wrongly, that their deeds will help them enter Heaven.
For us to say otherwise is being judgemental; and making God's decision for Him.
