Hi all. Can anyone help me understand why, when trying to respond via e-mail, on craigslist I keep getting an error message "the host smtp could not be found." Even when I copy the e-mail address and attempt to send it thru my own e-mail account I still get this message.

Help......

Good Morning,

It could be several things. Craigslist may be updating there mail server. Also double check your SMTP settings. Could also be that the "node" that craigslist's server is running through is down or having maintenance performed on it. They could be patching the server as well or the IP service could be performing maintenance. normally though they post a message to inform there users (Site and IP) that they are performing maintenance.

I'm sure I'm missing something else, wait an hour or so and try again.

It may not be you. I have run into that in the past with sites. Honda site was one. One of there main nodes was having severe weather issue in the area <shrug>.
