What is your take on a rebuilt temple?
|
| It is a good thing - a blessing to modern Jews; we should support it. |
|
| It is an unfortunate necessity to be fulfilled but we should avoid it. |
|
| Even if rebuilt, it has nothing to do with prophecy, so is irrelevant. |

Temple in Jerusalem Hi everyone. I’m just doing a survey of what us Christians think about a rebuilt Temple in Jerusalem. As you know, a lot of Christians are very interested in reports coming out of Israel concerning plans to build the temple on the old site where it was destroyed years ago. How do you and your Christian friends see this? Please vote even if you are not interested in end time stuff because I want to get an impartial idea of what the majority of Christians think. - A rebuilt temple is a good thing - a blessing to modern Jews, and we as Christians should support it?
- The temple is an unfortunate necessity - so prophecy can be fulfilled, but we as Christians should warn Jews to avoid it?
- The temple is not going to be rebuilt - if it does, has nothing to do with prophecy, so this whole question is irrelevant?

I think that rebuilding the temple is the key thing to happen before the tribulation and when Jesus comes back. On one hand I am like bring it on, and yet at the other hand I hope that it would wait instead.

Hi Peter, Google should pull up plenty of stuff but just to give an example, here are pictures of future priests being fitted for temple garments. Apart from being interested in its end time significance, do you think God is pleased that Jewish people are preparing to do this?

I would have to have voted "other" if it was an option. There is already a temple in Heaven, and according to Zechariah the law will go forth from Jerusalem. So it will happen eventually because it is a part of prophecy. However, for the first 7 years or so of it's existence, it will be a negative thing because it will be the hub for the Anti-christ's religious power. Yet in the millenium it will be an incredible blessing... because it mirrors heaven. Adam

I cannot vote. A third (and perhaps even a 4th) temple WILL be built at some point. It will be the home of the antichrist and the palace of Yeshua. One bad, the other good.

No, I still can't vote. Your choices: It is a good thing - a blessing to modern Jews; we should support it. I do not think it would be a good thing necessarily for traditional Jews. It would cause a lot of fighting with the muslims. It is an unfortunate necessity to be fulfilled but we should avoid it. As it seems to be prophesied in scripture, there is no reason to avoid it. Do we want to fight God's prophecies? I don't think so. Even if rebuilt, it has nothing to do with prophecy, so is irrelevant. As said, it is foretold, so it cannot be "irrelavant." You need to add "other" to your list.

It is interesting you bring this up now, as this weekend is Tisha B'Av, (the 9th of Av) which is the day of the year both temples were destroyed.

I'm not talking about the Millennium. I'm talking about if the temple started being built in this day and age in which we live. By this day and age I assume that you are talking about the 70th week period. That is undoubtedly when a peace agreement that would allow the temple to be reconstructed. We must understand…not for God’s purpose other than to fulfill prophecy regarding the Antichrist. Bob

I listen to a radio program on AM radio, Politics and Religion. It's a prophecy-based program and quite interesting. It seems furnishings for the new Temple have been chosen. There are photos online. www.endtimes.com I believe is the correct link for Politics and Religion. There are plans to rebuild and it looks like it could happen soon. Weren't there practice sacrifices made in March or April? The temple will be rebuilt.

If the temple is rebuilt, it will be like a muslim mosque. In other words, it is completely pagan and an insult to God. If anyone thinks God will bring back the law you need to repent of this apostacy. Jesus has fulfilled the law and it has passed away according to God's decree. Paul used many harsh words to the Judaizers who were trying to burden the gentiles with the law. Even if the Israelites were able to build a temple, they still would'nt be able to fulfill the law because they have no geneologies to prove that someone is the high priest. Larry

OF COURSE IT'S RELEVANT! I would not be surprised to see the political leaders of Israel reach a compromise with the orthodoxy to rebuild the temple now, but on another site. Rebuilding on the temple mount, for the moment, seems unlikely. Unless a massive earthquake were to bring down the Dome of the Rock and perhaps even split the temple mount itself. Yes, the rebuilding of the temple would be a good thing as it is a requirement for end times prophecy and would signal the movement of things long awaited by Christians throughout the world. Also, FatherKnowsBest, you're right it would be an idol as GOD cannot indwell this temple as HE did in the past. But this temple must come to pass. From this the Antichrist will set himself as God in the temple and will in turn drive the Jews to Jesus as has not happened from Christ until now. In that way, this temple will be a blessing because soon after will be the return of Jesus.

Thanks to the OP's restatement of the question, I can say now that I would view a rebuilding of the temple as both a very very bad thing and a very good thing. It would be a very bad thing because the Antichrist can't be too far behind. However, it would be a very good thing because Jesus isn't too far behind the Antichrist (about 7 years). So yeah, I would still have said "other", but you have my definition. Adam

Shalom, WesP. quote:
ORIGINAL: WesP quote:
ORIGINAL: upNORTder The Temple will be an important part of the millenial kingdom. For what purpose? Simply read the following: Third_Temple Yechezq'el (Ezekiel) said that haMashiach (the Messiah or the Christ) will be the One to rebuild it during the Millennium! Today, we know that Yeshua` (Jesus) from Natsaret (Nazareth) IS that Messiah predicted to rebuild the Temple. Why? To offer the one, Red Heifer burnt offering sacrifice, and to sacrifice the other kinds of sacrifices such as thanks offerings, peace offerings, grain offerings, wave or heave offerings, and free-will offerings. None of the extra offerings were made to atone for sin. These offerings were simply done out of thanksgiving to God, to arbitrate for minor infractions, and to provide unity among the people. While the burnt offerings and the sin offerings were done to atone for sin, these will not be allowed any longer since THE Burnt Offering was made in the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God. HOWEVER, there will ALWAYS be room to give thanks and to give people the opportunity to share with others and to provide sustenance for the cohanim (priests). Retrobyter
