I have visited this interesting city 10 years ago with my parents and can not remember a thing besides the Eiffel Tour and the tiny Mona Lisa painting. Are there other museums in Paris, besides the Louvre, which are good to visit? This vacation is planned for the 20th to the 31st of august and therefore I hope the weather and especially the temperature in Paris will be pleasant. I heard that a Paris sightseeing tour is kind of expensive and that there can be a huge difference in quality and cost performance ratio.

I am also interested in the typical “French cousine” but would rather prefer a small restaurant or café which is not overcrowded with other tourists. Where do I have to go to find a French restaurant that is more an insider than an easy-finder? So many questions I need to solve before the trip really starts. I hope you have a lot of suggestions and opinions to help me. Thanks a lot in advance.

I would ask someone I knew or ask a friend to ask someone she or he knows of if I could consult with them on the best ways to finding out such things. Everyone on the internet will say that they are the best! (podunk restaurant on the block).

I'd try to stay away from any publications coming out of a country about itself, too, or any magazines or whatever.

It's "French cuisine". Cousine means cousin!

I'm french but never set foot in Paris. I also do not have any friends there. However, if you need any help with the language I'm here! I do know that things are very expensive.

Bon voyage!

St. Michel and Montmartre are my fav Metro stops. You could spend all day at either stop and shop, eat, hit a few museums and sites. Boulogne is also a good stop, with the best park in Paris, IMHO but, not many tourists. There is an awesome museum there...can't remember the name. Don't go to the Boulogne park at night though.

How long do you have in Paris? What are you interests, shopping? modern art? history? gardens and parks?

I enjoyed a lot in the days I was there (except staying overnight at the Orly airport- a toilet overflowed on my shoes& I saw a rat in the eating area).

Other spots (not mentioned?)

Here's where I stayed- affordable, and near cool stuff & subway, but a confusing intersection of streets:
