I know Laura Bush has an 80% public approval rating - one of all-time highest for a First Lady and is liked more than her husband in many venues - so I'm curious how people feel about Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain. Not that it matters too much, since they are not Pres. ...

At first glance/impression, I find Cindy McCain more pleasant than Michelle Obama. I know Mrs. McCain has had her share of issues (with drugs), but Michelle Obama often comes across as angry, ungrateful, and greedy. ....These are just impressions I get from seeing and hearing her in the media and interviews, so they may be way off.

Its really hard not to like Mrs. Bush, unless you're a far left ideologue (and that's putting it nicely).

I think they're both fine people. Mrs. McCain past drug use is of no concern to me, people change. Not sure how Mrs. Obama gives off the impression of greed but I get ungrateful and angry. I see your point and kinda agree with it (moreso the angry) but I get where that comes from. I think Mrs. McCain has the more passive and pleasant spirit. Mrs. Obama is a more domineering personality and more of an activist. Both types have their good and bad points. I personally prefer Mrs. McCain (or more to the point her "type") but I like both OK and I think both will make fine first ladies.

I think these two are similar in a few ways but, in a lot of ways, polar opposites.

Obama is the consumate career woman. Michelle Obama is an attorney and a very accomplished hospital administrator. I see her life as a pretty singular career track that's only recently been slightly sidetracked by this political adventure. I'm quite certain, however, that she sees First Lady as a nice step on her resume. From what I've read, she's highly organized and disciplined and admirable in many ways. I do agree that she comes across as angry or a natural activist.

While there's a lot about a woman like Michelle Obama you have to admire (but more, IMO about her to fear), I am an enormous Cindy McCain fain, I have to admit. She's very much a business woman serving as Chairman of her father's beer distributorship. And, granted, a lot of what she has been able to do besides that is probably because she didn't have to spend decades buiding that business, only running it. But she majored in special education (she's in my sorority!), taught, and later founded the American Voluntary Medial Team. She has spent a great deal of time oversees working with refugees and orphans, willing to forego the glitz and glamor of her wealthy life here to serve others on the other side of the world in horrific conditions. I think her gracious and humble demeanor is a stark contrast to Obama's controlling, angry demeanor.

I think Cindy McCain has shown a great deal more concern with the world, those less fortunate, and for others in general and will be an absolutely amazing First Lady. It seems to me the Michelle Obama will be pretty much the same as Hillary. Cindy McCain would be very similar to Laura Bush except wouldn't mind the spotlight. There's just so much she could (and would) do as First Lady and, IMO, would bring back the grace and beauty we've not seen since Jackie Kennedy.

I'm just glad that MO is finally proud of her country since Obama is running for president. I'm just afraid that she might lose that pride if something goes wrong with his campain or he loses the election by like 4000 votes in Ohio. Then I think she won't be proud of America anymore.

From what I have seen so far, I prefer Cindy over Michelle. The original Michelle, not the re-packaged Michelle 2.0 sounded like a bitter, angry American. I credit part of it to going to the black-power militant church for 20 years. There is no way you can hear that for that long and not believe in what was preached.

I think that the country will fall in live with Mrs. McCain based on her years of helping the downtrodden around the world.

Not just with her money, but personally spendin much time in the disease infested parts of the world bringing health care to those who would not live withour her intervention.

The group that she formed, supports, and helps that do cleft palate surgery around the world came to an area in Mexico where I was a missionary.

They perfomed over a hundred surgeries and absolutely changed 100 lives of children that would have otherwise been shunned and abandoned.

She is one cool lady that knows what to do with her money.

Thanks
RC

I didn't know squat nor diddley about either when this campaign started. The more I learn about Michelle Obama, I can't say I'm too crazy about her. I don't dislike her, but she doesn't give me a warm fuzzy at all. As for Cindy McCain, I hate to admit that I was prepared to dislike her when I first caught sight of her. She looked fake as a three dollar bill, yet the more I learn about her, the more I like her. However, I would be lying if I didn't say that it bugs me the way she and McCain got together. Thankfully, McCain has admitted he was wrong.
