Despite my strong desire to get all of the HS'ers into public school, I am happy that parents get to keep their say over how their kids are educated.

Other than indoctrination, why? It's crazy this is even an issue... The fact parents have to fight the government for the right to educate their children as they see fit is simply wrong and certainly not part of the principles this country was founded on... John

The book of Proverbs tells God's people not to sit in the counsel of the ungodly. Public schools are becoming more and more ungodly. Why would we want to entrust our children's minds to them. Unfortunately, the kids who are able to take a stand for the Lord and not be intimidated are in the minority. Peer pressure is just too strong. Most children are not able to stand up to it nor to being criticized for not being politically correct. Too many kids are being pulled away from the faith because of what happens in public schools. We are to be salt and light in the world but our children have too much pressure to conform to current thought. Rather than our children being good influences, they are too often corrupted by the school system and their peers. Are we putting education ahead of their spiritual development? I would rather to see them in a situation where they receive a good educations AND their spiritual beliefs are reinforced. Schools are not teaching just the three Rs anymore; they have inserted themselves into areas that are in the parents' domain. Besides all this, home schoolers are doing as well or better than public school students. What's wrong with that?
