I think it is time to bring back a thread we had on the old CW. The Bible Verse of the Day. What verse stood out for you today? It could be one that is in your head, one you noticed during your Bible study, or one you thought others here would benefit from seeing. I'll start it off with a Psalm. This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it-Psalm 118:24

i didn't think that this would be allowed! that's what i get for being dense as steel at times. started my own forum just so i could do this and keep track of things that i want to save for future reference. notes and i don't get along well. here's the one for today: quote:
John 19: 25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom He loved, He saith unto his mother, "Woman, behold thy son!" 27 Then saith He to the disciple, "Behold thy mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. it has always struck me as odd that so few were noted as standing there at the cross. all four of the women are mentioned first, only the last two by name. the only male's name(John) isn't recorded either.

I checked the TOS and there isn't anything saying that this type of thread isn't allowed, so I guess we are good to go! quote:

Well Scripture does indicate that "I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter." Many of the disciples were in hiding at the time. John was the only one to stay with the Lord (out of the men) until the bitter end. Maybe (and this is pure conjecture) that is why John lived to die of natural causes while all the other disciples were martyred.

Passage for 04/20/2006 quote:
John 20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. when combined with... quote:
JAS 1: 16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. this shows that as much as God loves Jesus, he loves each and every person that has ever been, is, or will be. IOW: God loves YOU as much as He loves Jesus! Thank God!

Today I received a devotional and the verse in it was perfect for this thread. Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9 We will always go through periods of darkness and doubt. That is the fault of being human, but we can rest assured that our God above human feelings and faults, and isn't affected by the doubt that we cast in our hearts.

Lamentations Chapter 3 verse 22 and 23. It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Oh your welcome. I just saw in Prayer Requests that Zola Levitt died. How sad, I really loved his program.

Believe it or not... Genesis 1 and 5. Genesis 5 quote:
21 When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. 22 And after he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. 23 Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. And... Genesis 1:1quote:
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

"Bless the Lord O my soul, and all that is within me bless His Holy Name. Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits: who forgiveth all thine inquities: who healeth all thy diseases, who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth they mouth with good things: so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles." Ps 103. Such benefits.....whew....may we all know them, and receive them every day as we live for Him.

Good morning, all! Here's my morning reminder and encouragement as we face the weekend: quote:
Psalm 18 For the director of music. Of David the servant of the LORD. He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: 1 I love you, O LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. 3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.

Thought of the Day For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. -James 4:14 Do you think we set too much thought to things here on earth and not enough on the other side, our eternity? For heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35

Psalm 24, 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. 9 Lift up your heads, O you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty-- He is the King of glory. Selah (repeat)

Passage for 04/24/2006 quote:
Romans 5: 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope(elpis:1680): 5 And hope(elpis:1680) maketh not ashamed; because the love(agape:26) of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
