Who has ever used a personal trainer?...Why did you choose to go to one? What did you do?..What is beneficial?.... Did it cost much? .......Would you recommend it to others?......

I use a coach. I'm a triathlete and balancing the training was difficult. My coach provides a schedule for me to follow. He taylors it to me--my personal goals as well as how I am handling the training. My first coach was $200/month. Well worth it!!! He is THE BEST. He ended up coaching the USA Triathlon team in Beijing. Yah, that good of a coach! He taught me well. He was in a very serious accident last year and wasn't able to keep up with the coaching. I figured I didn't need his level of coaching, while other of his athletes did (several went on to the Olympics), so I found another coach. I did find another coach and we worked together for a year. He was $75/month. For various reasons, I've just left him. Eventually, I will find another coach.

I haven't used one due to the cost. Its like 75.00 for a half hour at my gym, no refunds. It depends on the trainer too, some of them aren't that good because its pretty easy to get a personal training certificate. If you need to be motivated by someone else or have never exercised before, it would be worth it. Some trainers let you work out in group or pairs and you can split the cost and its cheaper that way.

Would insurance ever cover it? That's a lot of money. That's more than seeing some doctors, lol. I have had previous injuries and would probably benefit from a trainer to make sure I'm doing things right to protect myself....but if it's severald hundred a month, I don't think I could afford that.

insurance does not cover it. If you have a physical injury or condition then insurance may cover physical therapy, but personal trainers are considered a luxury that you are responsible for paying for.

ORIGINAL: solomonsprayer Who has ever used a personal trainer?...Why did you choose to go to one? I've used one, I wanted some personal instructions, to go along with what I'd read (books, magazine, internet) and seen (dvds, internet). quote:
What did you do?..What is beneficial?.... The person I went to had background in a specific sport I was interested in. He taught me some stuff and helped me put together a routine I could do on my own. Gave me feedback on how I was doing. quote:
Did it cost much? .......Would you recommend it to others?...... It was about $50 per hour in a package. I think one should "back-in" to a trainer. Start with what do you want to accomplish and work back to how you can accomplish it. If along the way, you realize that you need a trainer, in order for it to happen, then use a trainer where needed.
