It's been a while since I've homeschooled with toddlers in the house! We have twin 22-month-olds. What are your most successful solutions for dividing your time and keeping little ones happy/occupied when you need to give your other children academic attention?

I'm faced with a similar challenge, since our youngest is almost 1 and she doesn't like to be left out! We do have buckets of blocks under the dining room table, since she likes to hang out there when we school. Almost 2 year olds might be easier. What age are you homeschooling? Is he/she able to do or complete any work on his own? Perhaps quiet reading time for the older child or something like a Jumpstart educational computer game and then give the younger ones some one on one. Give them chalk and their own little chalkboard or do you trust them with markers yet? You could get them their own wipe off slate. They sell them in a sheet at Lowe's and they can cut it up for you in your desired size. I think the stuff was intended to be tile, but my home school friends all use them for wipe off slates! Do you let them watch any tv? One short show could allow you a little bit of time. Here are some links with some good ideas. Don't forget the best part of home schooling is the ability to be flexible. Try and get as much done when the little ones are napping. Have fun! http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Aegean/3446/keeplittleones.html – non-breakable mixing bowl and wooden spoon – painting with water colors or food-based paints – homemade edible dough – a shallow pan filled with sand or water – laundry, toys or other safe objects to sort – lacing cards – a large empty cardboard box (the possibilities are endless) http://knowledgequestmaps.com/article9.htm (edited only to uncheck the sig, links stretching out the page)
