Has anyone studied the prayers of Paul in any great debth? If so, what did you learn from them?
I am about to embark on a study of these and was interested if anyone else has made a topical study of them and/or uses them in prayer?

Not too great a depth, but I think Ephesians 1:17 in particular is profound. I first stumbled across it by simply reading through the Bible, not because it is a well-known verse. Imagine if all of us, like Paul, habitually prayed for each other "that we might know Him better."

Hi, I like your verse citation, Romans 12:12, it fits where I am today in the LORD. Also Ephesians 1:17, pray for one another. Paul was certainly about serving the LORD and only wanted those who heard him to do the same, not buy in to his dreams and plans; that's a fine line isn't it? Our former pastor used to start his sermons with the Grace and peace to you from God our Father, and when one does a study of those words, that prayer sure becomes rich with meaning. Also when experiencially we notice grace and peace, what a settling emotion and realization ensues. I love your topic and will keep it in mind as means to become centered not on self, but on the Savior.. Enjoy your further study!

I haven't studied the prayers of Paul to a great extent. However, Ephesians 6:10-18 is a scripture that I turn to quite often, using Paul's words as a prayer.
10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

The Armor of God is a good subject to pray about. verse 18 is a challenging verse.

I have, Little_1. They are beautiful prayers and meant to be prayed. I took Paul's prayer from Colossians 1:9-12 and wrote it in first person leaving blanks so I could insert names. I left that in my Bible and for years I used that to pray for the women in my church. I am sad to say I have stopped.
But I still frequently use his words when praying for others. That is what praying scripture is all about. As I read, I pray God's word for others. For example, I pray for concerns expressed here on the forum as I spend time in the word each day---the Holy Spirit reminds me of people's needs and concerns just at the right time and while I'm in the right scripture to pray for them, KWIM?
I think my favorite and perhaps the one I think most needful in the body of Christ today is Ephesians 1:16-19. If those in the body only understood, truly understood, what Paul is saying when he prays: I pray that the eyes of Your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.
If we knew what is the hope of His calling,
If we knew the riches of the glory of His inheritance,
And if we knew the surpassing greatness of His power toward us. . .
Many, many, many, things would fall by the wayside.
All would be well.
As all is.

I will not be online for a while so sorry if I don't respond to any answers to this thread.
Liveloved - I completely agree with you regarding the fact that these prayers can be prayed for others as well as ourselves. They are great prayer 'thanksgivings', 'requests', etc and I believe they contain much which includes the will of God for our lives.
I have printed off a list of the Pauline Epistles and am going into a study period regarding such.
Thanks to everyone who has so far responded to this thread and sorry I won't be answering any further posts for a while but need to spend less time online meantime.
