Oh..we'll hear it. I have a friend who does voiceovers and he sounds just like LaFontaine. I'm sure there are many more.

(And plenty of software to go around.)

Ask anybody who's worked with VO talent. You can't do what he did in software. You can fix some things, but to get a sound like that, you either have it or you don't.

He made a guest appearance on the 5-14-05 episode of Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me and does his take on the tag lines for a couple NPR shows. The sound on this show is generally poor (LOTS of feedback from the audience speakers), but he sounds just like he always does.
