The story was originally that we, the USA, could not drill ourselves out of the problem of buying so much oil from overseas- from people we don't much like at times. Then the story changed that even if we did drill, it wasn't going to change things much at all. Then the story changed that we certainly do need to drill during the interim, while we come up with other energies at the same time. Mr. Pickens is spending a lot of money to share this with us. I wonder how much of an oil derrick has been spent telling us all these things. The conspiracy is not so much with Mr. Pickens wanting to be so helpful, as it is with why his commercial message hasn't changed yet again? Shouldn't it have changed again by now? I sense a conspiracy...

The conspiracy is that T. Boone Pickens is going to make a whole lotta money no matter what his message is telling us.

When I first heard this guy, my first thought was a new Ross Perot.

As per the OP, yes he said, "We can't drill our way out of this problem." Then he met with Sarah Palin said, "We are both for drilling." So my question for T. Boone is, which is it? You have some okay ideas, but can we get some consistency here?

In his statement he does't say he is opposed to drilling,he just doesn't believe "drilling" is our only way out of the problem. Gotta admit they have some pretty good commercials.

Drilling buys time for the other energy solutions to be developed and made available and affordable. That is consistent.

Has anyone researched the timeframe for a brand-new oil derrick? Let's just put it in the area of all that undrilled property set aside for drilling first, a safe distance from another derrick already there, but maybe tapping into a new reservoir cavern or whatever. I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe just Googling oil derrick will be enough. Regulatory agencies are not going to pass permissions for 300 of these things to be built as fast as can be... I'm wondering what kind of time is being bought? Tell you one thing, cars and natural gas and good ol' boys at the service station... that'll make for one 'bang-up' time ... up and out in all directions in a heated motion of fire.

The conspiracy is that T. Boone Pickens is going to make a whole lotta money no matter what his message is telling us. I am sure he has invested heavily in all forms of energy. With the way the economy seems to be headed, it will be "Slim" Pickens for a large number of people.
