..first I want to say that this IS NOT a Woman bashing post.. there are many good women out there.. that said, in the past of my unbelieving bewilderment years, I was no gem, or a great catch that's for sure, but at the same time I did have the ability to be considerate and fair with others.. but that didn't excuse me from some tough hits in the relationship area the writing below I found a few years ago and it blew my mind and brought both understanding and forgiveness for many past situations, especially situations that happened as a baby Christian in where I was pretty ignorant of the way I should carry myself and of the deceptive games that are going on out there.. and the reason for this post is just to see if other guys are dealing with this sometimes heart wrenching temptation and they're stories on seeing the truth, choosing the tougher thing and walking away... ..I recently just dealt with this and it's tiring.. everything looked good, but my gut started to tell another story.. and I waited to observe only to see several men get sucked in... but I'll leave the after-effects out because I'm sure you've all see this deal go down... here's the writing: please post your thoughts.. thanks The Wiles of the Wicked Woman Paraphrase by Wanda I. Gonzalez-Crespo 4Q184 She speaks emptiness and in [...] She is always looking for mistakes, sharpening the words that come from her mouth, and she flatters men with nonsense and leads them to uselessness. Her heart sets traps, and her kidneys cast nets. Her eyes have been invaded by evil, her hands have a tight grip on the Pit. Her feet come down to do evil and only walk towards crime. Her thighs are the foundations of the dark, and many sins are under her skirt. Her [...] are the gloom of night. Her clothes are dreary night, and her jewelry is drenched in evil. Her couches are beds of corruption, and her [...] are the ditches of Hell. Her houses are a home to darkness, she resides within the heart of the night. She pitches her tents on a foundation of darkness, she rests in the tents of silence, amidst the everlasting flames. She does not associate with those who shine. She is the beginning of all paths to evil. She will ruin all those who possess her, and destruction will come to all those who take hold of her. Her paths are the paths of death, and her ways are roads to sin, her trails lead toward wickedness, and her pathways, to evil wrongdoing. Her doors are the doors of Death, and in through her doorway is Hell. Those who enter there will never return, and those who partake of her will fall into the Pit. She hides in secret all [...]. She disguises herself in the city streets, and she plants herself by the city gates. No one will keep her from her never-ending fornication. Her eyes dart here and there, looking for a virtuous man to catch, an important man to lead astray, a just man to make unjust, to draw the righteous from obeying the commandments, to bring the good man down, to cause the honest to break the law. She causes the meek to rebel against God, and turn their steps away from justice, to put vanity in their hearts so that they do not stay on the path of righteousness. She seeks to lead men to the paths of the Pit, to flatter the sons of men with smooth words

I have struggled with female/sexual temptations. Some I've won, others I've lost. I didn't think much of the writing you included with your OP. Although I do think there are a few women who are like that writing described, they are not common. In my 30 years of being married, I've met no more than probably 2 or 3 women who were sort of like it described. Instead I've found that most women seem to behave themselves reasonably well. Way too much blame the woman in that text. I do think that women who attempt to be an illicit temptation to guys are a contributing factor to problems. And they should be called on the carpet for their behaviour but the buck stops with me to do the right thing no matter what any woman does.

a link that explains the source of this writing, from the Dead sea scroll's, it was meant to amp up the question of folly.. it can also be flipped and applied to men, I believe they call 'em players.. :) my reason for posting it, was remembering how stuck I became in a wrong relationship some years ago and how hard it can become to see my way out... the word soul-tie is being used these days.. and even the idea of a relationship becoming an idol.. sometimes we men and women are vulnerable while approaching others with good and helpful motives and even if we are well grounded and established in The Word.. we still can be taken down over time by the enemy who sometimes works through relationships.. the spirit may be willing but the fle... etc ..again my motive for putting it up was not to bash women, I have many women in my life that I get along well with, and I later tried to remove the thread but couldn't so I guess there's a reason for it being here.. so I'll let it go. and let it be a example of keeping romantic lust in it's proper place. http://www.nazareneremnant.org/the-wiles-of-the-wicked-woman.html

the source of this writing, from the Dead sea scrollss First off, the -'s (as in scroll's) indicates ownership, not plurality. Leave the apostrophe off. The dead sea scrolls are from the Quamran community of the Essane branch of Judaism. They are the ONLY Judaic branch in existance during the early and mid first century that are not mentioned at all in the NT. They were hermits, monks, and a kind of doomsday cult. The fact that they were celebate (very strange for Judaism) probably accounts for the overly negative attitude towards women.

If I ever cheat on my wife it will be my fault more than anyone elses.

First off, the -'s (as in scroll's) indicates ownership, not plurality. Leave the apostrophe off well Dave as long as we're giving advice.. now I'm not sure of the motive intended behind the words.. but the way they can be perceived are many, and one is offensive.. ..while in a public forum we have no idea the level of education people have, we don't know what level of relationship they have with The Father.. I could be someone brand new, or just trying to find my way back, I could have been in a church and turned off by people who were self righteous, or just plain old mean and that line could have just finished me off.. and in that light how important is it to you to be right ? How important is it.. I may be new and ignorant but my name is purposely 12learning and I didn't make it to the 8th grade and I will make mistakes in my topics choices as I learn but what I do know for sure is that if your're representing God I believe He wants people to be a little more Loving then Right.. think about it (for you future responses). PS, who does He exault ? (He told me to write that...)

It's about showing their "knowledge".. Which one day we'll all find out that we didn't hardly have it all figured out
