Is it me or are there others out there who enjoy "unusual" food combinations?

A couple of mine:

Turkey and strawberry jam (jelly) sandwiches

Beef and apricot jam sandwiches

In the days when I used to drink milk, I used to LOVE cod's roe, sprinkled with cider vinegar, washed down with a mug of hot chocolate.

I will see if I can think of some more.

Anyone else?!

No, I think everything I enjoy is perfectly normal. Only strange people think what I like to eat is strange.

Lol, Lisa!!

Manda- your sandwich combos don't sound bad to me!! A couple of really great sandwiches I like are: ham and nectrine salsa in a pita; Sliced green apple with turkey; a Montecristo. Those ideas go right along with your "wierd" combos. Maybe that just qualifies me as liking odd food.

One meal I eat that grosses lots of people out is smoked sausage, sauerkraut, cottage cheese, and browned potatoes (any style as long as they are salty and browned.) It's actually my favorite meal. It's my understanding that if I lived in a Germanic culture that this would be a normal meal because it was passed down by German anscestors (and probably Americanized, knowing my culture .)

I like peanut butter and honey, too. I used to dip my french fries in honey when I was little.

Hmm that doesn't sound strange to me at all. But then I have been to Germany, so maybe that's it. I'm not a fan of sauerkraut, but I can see how all those flavours would go together nicely.

From school I learnt all about bacon and marmalade sandwiches

From being a nanny, I learnt that peanut butter, mustard, spring onion and (for me) a teeny tiny bit of banana) was pretty good.

Grilled cheese and strawberry jam sandwiches.

Salami, cream cheese and dill pickle sandwiches.

My youngest son eats his spaghetti and meatballs with a drizzle of Ranch dressing.

Fresh strawberries with freshly ground black pepper.

Hollowing out a white cabbage and filling it with strawberries. You don't eat the cabbage, but the strawberries taste even better!

That's just wrong! Everybody knows that Fritos go with ice cream, not potato chips!

Some of these combos sound good to me! Occasionally, I'll make a peanut butter and purple onion (sliced super thin) sandwich. Good stuff.

Lamb with mango chutney is really good. I don't know how that whole mint jelly thing got popularized. Yuk!

Oh, that's wrong. Spaghetti should be eaten with italian dressing or a drizzle of vinegar, and cucumbers soaked in vinegar.

Pizza must have french onion dip on it...MUST...

I like vegemite on my sandwiches, though have no idea where to buy it here in the states.

You sound like a southern girl. That's considered a veggie plate here.

That stuff is just a poor substitute for the best and original, Marmite (which is wonderful in a cheese sandwich!).

You can find where to buy it here. You can also order online here.

I love strawberries dipped in sour cream and rolled in brown sugar. This is my absolute fave dessert.

I also like my fries dipped in a Wendy's frosty, Yum! I love salty/sweet and contrasting flavors.

You guys are so awesome. You guessed it I am a southern girl, transplanted from the state of GA. Thank you so much for the links on where to buy vegemite. I have never tried the Marmite, but probably should. Thanks guys.
