Before my Dad passed away, he had beautiful skin for someone 80 and my Mom is 83 and also has beautiful skin. They swear it's because of the amount of water they drink during the day. It keeps skin hydrated and helps whatever creams you use work better.

I wash my face twice a day with Dove bar soap. I moisturize in the morning with a cocoa butter day moisturizer and at night with Dove night cream. I don't wear a lot of makeup anymore now that my skin has cleared up (just eye makeup and lip gloss now). If I do wear foundation then I will use Dove face wash to clean it off my face. I have found that when I start to use toners and exfoliators my skins breaks out more so I've really taken my skin care to minimal. But I have to admit, that the women on both sides of my family have great skin, so I'm hoping to rely on genetics a bit more!

First thing that influences my skin is diet. The healthier I eat and the more water I drink, the less dry my skin is, the fewer blemishes I have, and the quicker I recover from any imperfection (whether it be a sunburn, a shaving nick, or a blemish.) For years, I glossed over this because I was smearing vitamin enriched lotions on my face and body. My body responds much better to naturally occuring vitamins and water inside it than it does to having it smoothed on the exterior. This also means I need fewer and less expensive beauty products. I've been using Dr Bronners soaps on hair, face, and body. I use bathing gloves so I get some exfoliation and stimulation of blood every time I wash. On my face & neck, I rub 3-4 drops of apricot oil. Then I apply Bare Minerals make-up. On my body, I apply a concoction I make up of oils and butters. I combine shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and olive oil together so it is spreadable. The butters are solid and hard to work with if you don't get enough of an oil that is liquid at room temp. The other product that I consider a staple is my Body Shop Brazil Nut Butter. I use it on my feet every night, and nothing works like it. My feet get dry and calloused. I've never seen another lotion that actually works to make them as soft- even products everyone else swears by.

I'm in my mid-30s as well. I use an eye cream (Burt's bees) 1-2x a day and a sunblock/moisturizer (Oil of Olay) before I go out. I really like using a bath glove as well. Its not as hard as a loofah, its fairly gentle, but it really helps the skin. Going in a circular motion really seems to help things like bumps under the eyes without pulling the thin skin there. I also use an oil (apricot kernal I think) with a touch of orange or peppermint scent after showering. I blot dry (still a bit wet) and the oil keeps the moisture in better. A good body moisturizer (I don't like to use it on my face as much).

I'm 43. I use a soap free cleanser, toner, night cream, and under-eye cream and night. In the morning, I exfoliate and apply a light moisturizer with sunscreen(spf 30). I've had this routine since I was about 25. I've tried tons of expensive stuff from Mary Kay to Estee Lauder and always go back the Olay products, now their Regenerist or Total Effects line. They are simple, affordable and have been very effective for me. No crows feet or wrinkles at all yet, so I'll stick with it!

I wash in the mornings with a tiny drop of Body Shop Passion Fruit Facial Cleansing Gel and water, and then apply Oil of Olay moisturiser (with sunscreen). That's it. I love Oil of Olay; it is non-greasy, sinks in easily and leaves my skin really soft and supple.

ORIGINAL: Above_All Simple question...what is your skin care regimen consist of for both face and body? This includes your daily routine and/or professional services. Oh and if the type of makeup you use promotes good skin, feel free to share that too. I use L'Bri products for face, body and hair. I also use the same brand of makeup if I wear it. quote:
ORIGINAL: Above_All At 34, I am increasingly interested in good skin care. My skin is already changing. It's getting more sensitive and I notice that I scar more than in the past. I know that a good diet is important so this excludes diet. I'd like to know what we are all using, what hasn't worked for you, etc... I use it because it is natural and I was introduced to it at a party much like other direct sales products. I loved it so much that I decided to wholesale to myself and then turn it into a business. I have tried lots of other things and so far, this is what I have loved and have been using for two years now which is way longer than any other things I have used.

Thanks for the invaluable info. Your product is similar to mine even tho it's not the same. However, anything coming from the Dead Sea I like and my skin likes it a lot. Nowadays we can even purchase them on the internet even when they discontinued. Thanks a lot (((AboveAll)))

I think the trick is to take care of it while it's still young, well before you notice the need to. My grandmother gave me my first "real" skin care products when I was 16 and told me never to neglect my face. I am very glad I listened to her! My girls are only 19 and 23 and already use good products and follow a good routine. The day someone thought my oldest and I were sisters(she was 19 at the time) was when she asked me what skin care stuff I used and if I'd get her some.

However, I would recommend you to ask a dermatologist opinion before using it. If you have PMS, that would make it like killing 2 birds with one stone.

Well I am going to be switching doctors. The one time I tried the Pill I keep spotting, on two different kinds, so she did tests and everything was normal but that was a side effect. So I quit taking them. But right now it isn't that bad (the acne and the pms) so I don't know if its worth it. Supposedly Yaz would help but there are side effects on that, and I really can't gain any more weight if that is a side effect from it.

I took 4 tablets a day for 2 weeks, then 3 for one week, then 2 for one week, and 1 for one week. I then continued 1 per day for another month. If I got any more, I'd start on the 1 per day again and only increase if the spots didn't go again. Within 6 months, I was free of acne 99% of the time and don't need daily antibiotics any more.

I use the Arbonne Intelligence Not So Basics skin care line and have NEVER found a skincare line that works so well for my skin. For one thing, my face is velvety soft and literally glows. I use the wash, toner and moisturizer. The other thing I love is that you have to use SO little and it lasts forever - I first got the skincare in January and still have a lot left. I also use Arbonne's liquid foundation and mineral powder foundation for my makeup and love it as well, I would highly recommend it. I use it on my feet every night, and nothing works like it. My feet get dry and calloused. I've never seen another lotion that actually works to make them as soft- even products everyone else swears by. I do the exact same thing! Although sometimes I substitute Jojoba Oil for the Olive Oil. (I think thats what I have mixed up in my bathroom right now) Sometimes I'll add a few drops of essential oil to it but I really haven't found one yet that I really like with it. The mixture of the butters and the oil have a real (for lack of a better term) 'smoky' smell to them that I don't particularly like...but they do keep my skin very soft. I like using the self tanners because, well, I'm whiter than white naturally and I like to have some color...problem is they will really dry your skin out...so I find this mixture puts back the moisture. If I just really don't want to have the smell that I don't like sometimes I'll use the straight Coconut Oil instead...but that's mainly like if I've bathed just before somewhere I'm going. (I usually bathe before bed at night rather than showing in the mornings) Something else I like to do is pour a cup or even two of warm goats milk in my bath water...it softens my skin but doesn't pose a health hazzard to my hubby who stands in there to shower (ever seen anyone try to take a shower in a tub someone put bath oil in?? ) As for my face...I would like to say that I'm conscientious enough to always use only natural products on my face...and I do use them often...but I also have a stash of 'convenience' products around too. I have clenser, serum and moisturizer from the Olay Reginerist line that I use when I just don't have time to hit the kitchen before I cleanse my face. I find they leave my skin feeling very soft...but I feel like there's a film there (it's probably more mental than anything....lol) One thing I try to do is to always have at least a day a week (usually Saturday, since I'm usually just running errands vs. going to church or work) where I wear no make up at all and allow my skin time to really breathe. Sometimes I might have more days (like if I take off work during the week or like today it's a holiday in the states) but others I might not get a whole day (like if on Saturday night hubby wants to go to dinner and a movie or something...I wouldn't make him be seen in public with me without makeup...lol) What I prefer to use are all natural things from the produce or dairy department or the health food store. For instance as I type I have a mask on that is a combination of 4 simple ingredients...Full Fat Organic Yogurt, Honey, the contents of one Co-Enzyme gel cap & Montmorillonite clay powder (which you can get at most health food stores). It leaves my skin feeling very soft but doesn't leave a residue behind. I use olive oil as my eye make up remover. Oh and I LOVE Witch Hazel!!! I must be getting something right I'm constantly mistaken for my daughters sister (and even once, by her bf's friend, her younger sister )

You can get "deodorized" cocoa butter, if it's that chocolate smell that bothers you. I order from Camden Grey, and they sell it. Their products are fresh and I have never had any problem at all in the 7 years I've been ordering from them.

Thanks Zippy...I'll have to look for that. I don't know if it's the cocoa butter or the shea butter or the combo of the two honestly.
