There is a cross on a hill behind my housse. During a lightning storm I captured a 21 second video of the lightning appearing to hit the cross. Go to page 2 of this website and click on the youtube link heavenlyphoto.net

Not terribly remarkable, considering it appears to be the highest point around. Lightning is funny that way. Is that the point you're trying to make - avoid being the highest point in a thunder storm? If so, my grandmother taught me that about 50 years ago.

Hi Jimbo,

I thought it was very remarkable, as a matter of fact I was stunned by the whole event. Little things like this have always made my day though, however, I won't waste your time with my dull sense of amusement. I live in the mountains of Colorado, this little hill is behind my house near a church parking lot. Pikes Peak is near 15,000 ft and is right outside my bedroom window too. Check out some of the pictures at heavenlyphoto.net and you can see the view I have from my front porch. I can get this cross and Pikes Peak all in one panoramic photo. I just really enjoy photography and only hoped to share it with others.

I have a son that lives in Loveland, CO and he also has a beautiful view of the Rockies. When we visit him, we always drive to the mountains, last time it was in February.

I've also enjoyed more than few beautiful sights in trips to places like the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Brazil, Holland, Germany, Spain, Morocco, Scotland, Gibraltar, Tangiers, Egypt, Greece, Italy, Sicily, and Israel - all via ship in the Navy.
