I apologize if I have chosen the wrong "room" to post this Christian history question, but I chose the one that I thought was most appropriate. I am reading a biography on Henrietta Soltau, who (among other efforts) prepared ladies in London for joining the mission fields in China for C.I.M. I would LOVE to find out more about a Russian princess she mentions late in the book. The story sounds fascinating. I believe the story's time period is around 1900. "Meanwhile Miss Soltau was in demand for Bible Readings and meetings among the secret disciples, who met in an upper room of a palace. This room was large enough to hold an audience of a hundred people, but was so constructed that its entrance could not be found except by the initiated.... Princess and peasant knew no difference of rank.... Of these Russian friends Miss Soltau wrote some years later: 'As far as I know all these good women are with the Lord. The beloved Princess and her sister were imprisoned in their country hosue where they were almost starved to death, and compelled to endure the rigours of the terrible Russian winter, without fires. One died in a workman's cottage, in great poverty; some were slain by the maddened crowd, yet all were full of joy in the assurance of the prize which no man could snatch from them.'" I would love to read the rest of the story if anyone here could direct me. Unfortunately, Googling "Russian princess" brings yields many unsavory results. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Research the Romanovs and maybe the Soltau name will come up.

No luck. Any other idea out there? I've searched Russian history and royalty on Wickipedia to no avail.

See if there's a Russian Orthodox church near you and ask there. I'm sure they'll know more about the princess you speak of. I believe it's one of the Romanov princesses. In fact, I think the Romanov family are all considered martyrs for the faith.
