I know that what Gingrich said is key: quote:
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Republicans need to worry less about what's good for the party and more about what's good for the country. "That requires thinking in fundamentally different ways than the last generation of Republican consultants," said Mr. Gingrich, suggesting a "big fight" is brewing among Republicans over the direction of the party. Unproven? He's running and turning things around in Louisiana. His handling of two major hurricanes in less than two weeks was phenomenal. When FEMA messed up again, I'm talking major mess ups, he came up with a very good alternative that was cheaper, quicker and more efficient than what FEMA would have done. Those who failed to perform as their duties required were fired promptly. He is solution oriented and those solutions are the most efficient they can possibly be. When he ran the state's Department of Health and Hospitals under the Foster administration he took a bloated, corrupt and poor performing bureaucracy that was in the red and cut the waste to the point where it was making money and providing more services for the people who needed them. That was when he was 24ish. He has a grasp of the issues and has the ability to communicate what needs to be done. More importantly he has the ability to think quickly on his feet and is a tireless worker. He would whip the 0ne in a debate without wasting a breath on the uhs, ahh, duhhs.

Perhaps unproven was a wrong choice of word. Bobby has a great future ahead of him. He is doing great things there in LA. He will have a huge role to play in the GOP on the national level one day. I just don't feel his time is now.

If conservatives want to win in 2012, we have to start now. China isn't waiting until January to test Obama.

He still has lots of work to do here and is needed for his second term to be honest. We have decades of bad government to rectify here. He was on Hannity and Colmes last night articulating exactly what he sees what the GOP needs to do to get back on track. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,447944,00.html

He has been through the nasty Louisiana dems for two gubernatorial elections and they threw some of the nastiest mud that could be thrown in an election. They tried the "He's a muslim" approach, then when that didn't work, they used darkened photographs to make him appear black. They tried using his Catholic faith against him all the while over half the state was Catholic including the Lt. Gov, both US Senators and almost half of the representatives. He can handle a national run.

Thank you, Stephanie. I am going to be watching this man more closely. I was excited when he was elected in Louisiana, and thought then that he had a real future, but I am more interested in him than I ever have been before.

This for example...quote:
JINDAL: No, look, I think we win elections by being authentic. If voters want to elect somebody who's going to have liberal positions, they'll elect the candidate that's authentically liberal. I think that we can be true to our conservative principles, but we have to apply those principles to issues that matter. Let's take health care. There is one approach, a single payer, government run health care system. We don't believe in that but for years we've been silent. We've tried to beat something with nothing. We've got to show the American people we've got real solutions that involve reforming the marketplace, making health care affordable, whether your child has got asthma, diabetes or if you're health, it should be affordable for all Americans.

Quote from here Zach Wamp from Tenn said pretty much the same thing. He was elected initially during the 1994 Republican "Contract on, oops, for America." He, and presumably others, are throwing Delay under the bus.

Palin is a wash. She's done more damage to herself and cost McCain the election. I personally was hoping for Huckabee to be the Republican candidate or as VP. I ended up voting for Alan Keyes, who had to go Independent because he got no love from the RP. He actually gave Obama run for his money in Chicago. Jindal sounds promising as well...thanks for the link.

One thing Obama will take from Clinton, is he will spend the next four years in campaigning mode even though he has the job already. And we were worried about a third term Bush? LOL

If conservatives want to win in 2012, we have to start now. This is what happened shortly after 1996 and the Party went moderate with Dubya and it was the start of my dissatisfaction with the Republican Party. Unfortunately my opinion is still that since Republicans keep supporting Centrist-Moderate McCain/Dubya/Bush 41 types they will keep sending them down the line each election cycle. The Republican Party reminds me of a drunk right now. It isn't going to change until it admits that it has a problem which it doesn't seem to want to do- yet.

Meaning, the party machine wouldn't really get behind her. Jindal can learn a lot from President-elect on how to build an organization. Keyes is just plain crazy and needs to go someplace far away with Ralph Nader and L. Ron Paul.
