The other day I was discussing with a friend on the opinions of the protestants on the pope, but could not reach a definitive conclusion. So I decided to post my question online in order to know what people really believe in. Fellow protestants, could you tell me, to which of the below positions you feel closer? It would also be helpful if you could note down which country you are from and to which denomination you belong. (A) The authority of the pope is given by god. Among all people, his say is the closest to divinity. (B) The pope does not have divine authority. Nevertheless he has more say on religious matters compared to, say, an ordinary minister. (C) The pope is a human being, and his authority or responsibility is not more than that of any other Christian. (D) Other? Very Best, Dana Inek.
