Dear God:
As You know, the United States is going through a financial crisis. Many have lost jobs, and many have also lost homes. Some shouldn't have bought homes to begin with, but it still hurts to lose one's house.
Lord God, winter is almost here. Many areas of the USA get extremely cold in winter; heating and gas prices are high. Many struggle w/ budgets; they have credit card, fuel, grocery bills, and they also have children to care for.
Heavenly Father, this is a time of difficulty for many. Christians and non-Christians alike are subject to this time of hardship.
Father God, I ask You to provide the needs of those who are in difficulty. Encourage those who need encouragement. Please help those who have lost jobs to find employment. Please help those who are struggling to keep their homes to make the mortgage payments. Please bring peace and support to those who have already lost their homes.
Dear Father, please instill in our hearts a profound sense of humility and sobriety. The argument made by some is that extreme greed is a major reason for all that is happening. Your Word condemns the love of money and it also teaches that we are not to love the world or the things thereof. Lead us to care for those who are struggling; give us wisdom in money and asset management. All we have is ultimately Yours; we are stewards of your money and goods.
Dear Father, as I write this prayer, this applies to me too. I have my job still, but sometimes worry whether I will be laid off. I ask You Father in Your grace and mercy that I, and my fellow believers, and all those who aren't believers but who are struggling, will have peace in our hearts. Grant to us all a sense of security, that while this is indeed a challenging period, that this will end. And lead us to seek and to find ultimate security in Jesus Christ, Who is our savior, Who should be to us the start and the end of everything.
Lord God, the holidays are almost here. Let us focus less on shopping for gifts and more on the giving of thanks to You, Our Creator and Provider, Who has given us so much to be thankful for, Jesus Christ of course being the greatest blessing of all.
Embrace and envelop those who will spend the holidays alone, those whose families are absent, far away, or simply non-existent.
Finally Lord God, this was an election year. It was a competitive and sometimes bitter presidential campaign. Some within and without the church are still reeling from the results; some are still rejoicing. Please guide all Christians, regardless of political belief, to reconcile under not only the flag of our country but the greater and more important banner of Christ. Let us be united in and for Christ's sake, that the world may see You in us. And also please grant wisdom to our leaders, as there will be a presidential transition. Guide the leaders who are still in office and also those who will lead starting next year.
We are all the same here God: humans who love and wish to be loved; who do not want to go hungry, who need warmth in winter... and we all need Jesus Christ in our hearts, and the peace, strength, and wisdom that Jesus alone can give. Please reassure us all at this time, especially as many of those who are suffering themselves need to reassure little ones under their care.
I ask for all these things in Jesus' name,
Amen.

As we see the number of people being affected by this growing crisis, we see the need for your intervention.
Protect us.
Draw us close to you and lead us through these murky times.
Turn our plights into blessings.
May you be glorified by the ways that you come to our rescue.
We thank you and pray this in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
