Hello All, I'm brand new to the board and hope to be a valuable asset to this community! ****************************************************** I'm writing because I need to testify...I need to state the obvious...I need to tell on myself...I need to confess. Prayer is imperative! I simply cannot be without prayer! Lately, I am coming to realize that more specifically I cannot live-truly live-with my 5AM prayer time. About 5-6 years ago, God told me to start meeting Him in prayer at 5AM every morning. I began with great fervor, but have never been consistent as I am not a morning person. I'm actually quite a night owl and find obeying God's commandment incredibly challenging! PRAY FOR ME !!! This morning after praying for a little while, falling asleep, and waking up again I began to understand that skipping out on this time with God was akin to not paying my tithe. This is a very small portion of my day that He has sanctified for Himself. I have often carelessly refused to give it to Him. Waisting it on sleep and consequently missing countless opportunities to enjoy His presence, hear His voice, and gain much needed wisdom and insight for my life. I've got to do better. I've got to give God the time He has required! I have to pray! Please, pray for me...that I would recommit to meeting God at 5AM and that my commitment would be consistently kept.

I cannot adequately carry on a conversation with someone when I am tired or sleepy. 5 am would not be be a good time to meet with a friend for coffee because I am not a morning person. God wants our best and He is well aware of our ups and downs in this life. Do you sincerely believe that if you changed your time in prayer and fellowship with God to later in the evening that He would punsish you? I don't think so.

I find read/praying aloud keeps my mind from wandering or falling asleep. One thing that might help is only committing yourself for a week. Try this: 1. Choose a book(Ephesians or Galatians have six chapters). 2. Select quiet place with minimal distraction and interruptions at the same. 3. Commit yourself for only week, read aloud a chapter a day. 4. Rest a day(Sunday?), commit for another week the same book, aloud again, a chapter a day. 5. Rest a day(Sunday?), commit for another week the same book and since you've read the same book twice try memorizing some key or special verses to you.
