IL voters were asked if they wanted a new constitution and most voted no. I was miffed because I think most knew what our constitution says, including me, and the coverage wasn't very clear. If it passed, we could have the ability to overhaul school funding, pensions and a few other things that needed changing, imo. Our area voted to expand our local community college so that was good.

I'm disappointed by Virginia voting heavily Democrat, but not surprised. The seeds of this have been sowed for quite a while. We've had tons of Northerners moving into our state over the last couple of decades (bringing along their values and political preferences), and a lot of immigrants living in Northern Virginia. The writing was on the wall when Jim Web was elected as a senator.

Missouri still hasn't been called for the President but I think McCain is going to take it by a few thousand votes, which will break our streak of always going with the winner, but that's ok. But we have a new Dem governor, so I'm pretty happy overall.

I'm happy with the way the amendments to the state constitution passed and failed. Term limits passed for some statewide offices and tax increases failed. The eminent domain amendments were barely defeated but I believe it had to do with the way they were worded, a no is still a no. The language was very confusing in a bad way, intentionally.

Overall I'm satisfied here in Texas. Both houses are still GOP. (That doesn't mean they are all conservative representatives however. Some are.) We still have John Cornyn as US Senator. Though not my district, in CD22 a solid conservative beat out the incumbent Democrat. (That's Tom Delay's old district.) The Harris County Judge won re-election.
Texas remains a red state. If it ever loses that designation than you will never see another Republican in the White House.

Yes and No
It appears Georgia is still a red state. There is one Senate race yet to be decided.
I am glad some elections are every two years. Probably with those elections there will be a lower turn out which will be helpful to us.

I was very happy to see my representative Michelle Bachmann returned to the House, and that we elected Eric Paulsen to the house. Hopefully Coleman will maintain his lead through a recount.

Overall I'm happy with Ohio's election results. Issue 1 setting earlier deadlines for putting issues on the ballet passed, Issue 5 restricting pay day lenders passed and issue 6 allowing a casino monopoly failed. Issues 2 and 3 I would have prefered not passing passed but they are amendments that we really already had legislation covering. They were just unnecessary in my opinion. And, much more locally, the issue my office had on the county ballot passed.

I guess I am in the middle.
I am not happy with the election of Christine Gregoire as governor, but her opponent sealed his coffin by starting the negative ads and making some outright lies.
My main concern is the Approval of Initiative 1000, the death with dignity law. I am uncomfortable with it because I belive it opens avenues for mandated suicide in 20 to 30 years to control elderly population and expense. We are killing helpless babies now, so I can see killing the helpless elderly.

I hate that and we do that in Ohio to.
What I didn't like locally and my wife absolutely hated was at our City Hall precinct all of the people were formed into a snaking line except for 2 precincts that were small and seperated (I was in one of these thank heavens). In line you could just stand there and watch everyone vote on the machines. You would get your card or something and stand around chit chat waiting for a machine to open up- I voted by paper always do and I even got privacy doing it that way. It was almost like going to an ATM and having about 5 different people all standing next to you with nothing better to do but have their eyes wander and watch what you're doing. :/
I had one major screw up. I moved about 20 or so miles last summer. I went from the 17th district, through the 13th district into the 16th district. The 3 of them funnel close together in my area. So I ended up thinking (where I went wrong obviously...) I was in the 13th but I was actually in the 16th. I was set to vote for Dennis Potter since Betty Sutton waffled and voted for the bailout second round. Instead I voted for Boccieri who was running to replace The retiring Regula instead of the Republican since Bocc should have taken my wrath over the bailout.
As for the other issues I was quite happy on most of them. We put the clamps on the check cashing places so hopefully when individual bailouts start coming out of DC there will be fewer since I tried to stem the tied of people being ripped off. Voted against this awful casino bill that would have let one guy build a casino complex on one plot of land. That is just silly to change your state constitution over.
It was a dingy election on my part but was overall pleased with the results.
