Anyone here catch "Legend of the Seeker". Its a syndicated fantasy* series based on "The Sword of Truth" series of novels. Since its syndicated times and stations will vary (WGN shows it and is available on many cable systems as well as the Chicago TV market). If you have seen it, any opinions or thoughts? I like it a lot but it is a bit of cookie cutter fantasy (fine by me but your mileage may vary) and doesn't have much to distinguish it from other movies / shows in that genre (think Hercules or Xena). I really like that the heroes are heroic and not whiny morally ambiguous emo "heroes". It has some nice small touches as well (I like how the higher up minions of the resident evil overlord are portrayed). * Fantasy = think magic meets medieval tech & customs. Sword fights and mythical beasts. Good strives to defeat the ultimate evil (whatever that may be in the story being told). Of course if the medieval tech and customs prove inconveient they are discarded, which is OK. Its not a documentary. Its not earth, just a created world based on medieval society.

We saw it on a Wednesday night a month or so ago. The boys enjoyed it. I thought it was a bit too Xena/Hercules (I don't think any of those women could get things done in those dresses), but in a humorous way. The premise was interesting.

Can't say that I have any experience wearing dresses but I imagine if a woman has worn them all her life she might learn to adapt or get used to it. Of course once you get past the casting of magic spells and mythical beasts ... Thanks for the response. Judging from this thread's lack of interest the series may not be long for this world. Although I suppose it'll last for the one season already contracted for at least.

It's not the fact that they're dresses (I wear dresses myself and they've been worn for centuries). It's the fact that your chest might pop out at any moment while you're wielding your knife on some bounty hunter. Any real woman of action would know better. During the episode I saw the girl was stuck in a cave with some kind of mythical beast. She was all crouched down and when the monster ran away I told my husband he was terrified of her cleavage. We had a good laugh. Seriously though, it's supposed to appeal to the teenage boys...like comic books...and in doing so it loses some of it's appeal to women. We like our swordmaidens but we don't necessarily want to feel like the women on the show are being singled out for ogling.

Any real woman of action would know better ok, i get it lol Honestly, though I see that the lead lady is very attractive for some reason in this instance I didn't really notice it. The point about only oogling the women is well taken but I haven't seen where the show has sexed itself up very much (there were a few instances with the guest "villianess" on one show). I could have missed it but trust me, in these cases I usually don't. I'm a guy after all. Thanks again for responding.
