I was just reading Genesis 1 last Friday when I noticed something that just made me laugh right out loud. Check it out: as G-d created, He would stop to say that various things were "good." Check out when He would say that. Do you see what I saw that made me laugh? Anyone who wants to add other interesting tidbits, please do!

give a little more info. to start with, what translation? in the NIV, God is not calling anything good. He is just seeing and acknowledging that it is good.

I just thought it was funny when I read what Popsi brought up -- that He didn't specifically say that the work on the second day was good. I read that, giggled to myself, and thought that since that day was Monday, perhaps He was having a "blue Monday!" Of course, before anyone jumps all over that, I know this isn't the case, but it was a funny thought. Then, on Tuesday, He says twice that things were "good," but only once on the other four days. Of course, in verse 31, He says it was all good, so He covers the first six days!

He's such a great Father. I know that I can be a regular (or is it irregular? ) Pollyanna, but honestly, I look at the world He created, and I think that it is fabulous. One has to ignore world problems, hunger, sickness, politics, etc. to do that, but still! The ocean. That wonderful sky. The trees. The colors. The clouds. The sun dancing off the water. The mountains. The night sky (the sliver of moon was so neat last night). I was just thanking Him on the way to work this morning for His artwork. It absolutely captures me. That's what He did! and I love it! I could live here forever, when sin is irradicated! Another interesting Bible (possible) fact: What's the only thing made by human hands that exists in Heaven?

Something I learned in class today - there's no such thing as the fruits of the Spirit.

it is singular, but are you sure it couldn't be a weird "singular, plural word"... eh I don't know how to explain

I mean, I haven't done extensive work on the Greek, but the verb "estin," which is also singular. I think Paul doesn't want us thinking we can pick and choose which fruit we want to bear.

Ahhh I see, but it's all about the Spirit right because the fruit comes from the Spirit

Fruit, in Greek, is similar to fruit in English: I can eat one fruit, or I can eat a lot of fruit. I can go to the store and buy fruit - maybe one orange, or I may buy grapes, oranges, apples, a watermellon, banannas, pineapple, and avocados. The word is either singular or plural. _____________________________ quote:

You got it, but wow! I didn't know anyone else had even brought this up, and there was a SONG? Cool! I have never studied this,so I was a little hesitant to put it here. Is the Scripture mentioning this figurative, I wonder, or will we really see His scars? I don't know.

I think of Rev. 5:6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

I'm pretty sure you can download it from itunes or Rhapsody. EDIT - I just checked.....it's on itunes and Rhapsody, on the Southern Gospel Treasury album. Beautiful song.

In regards to the Op, there are two passages that always make me chuckle in Scripture, this one from Mark, when Jesus was walking on water: Mark 6:48 Seeing them straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, at about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea; and He intended to pass by them. I just get this picture of the Disciples struggling to row through the water, and along comes Jesus, walking along, whistling a happy tune, planning on walking right by them as if it was no big deal... the other one is also from Mark, about the Transfiguration: Mark 9:2-3 Six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them. So exactly what special detergent do those heavenly launderers use exactly to get their clothes sooo white?
