I really have to say, I normally don't flat out hate a movie, but I came close to walking away from the DVD player and not finishing this movie. I paused the DVD several times to do other things and came back to watch the movie, but I was really disgusted with how bad the film was put together.
The plot felt paper thin and contrived to the point of me actually forgetting basic plot points every 15-20 minutes (probably because I didn't care). There was nothing to build emotions upon, nor anyhthing that was sustained long enough to create intrigue or even give an illusion of a meaningful story going on. Everything felt thrown together to create action and chase scenes, which seemed to have only a few minutes of cool special effects. The pacing felt rushed and jumbled and without enough meaningful scenes. The the action sequences, which admittedly had great effects, felt confusing at times with some much metal moving and firing and getting tossed around the screen. .....
Compare this to say, Iron Man, where there was a focus on background story, interesting characters, emotions, a relationship, tense plot, good comedic timing, and questions about the proper use of technology, etc. and Transformers II felt completely pointless - basically an exercise in how to throw together some chaotic CG-generated fight scenes.
The comedy scenes felt kind of cheesy too in Tranformers II. Those little wise-cracks from the robots felt overdone and unfunny and the bad characters seemed really generic - no personality at all. It felt like the robots had teh persnoality of 12-year old children (and talked like it too). That was really annoying. I can't take a character seriously who talks smack and acts like a sixth grader. It's neither funny/cute, scary, tense, nor interesting.
The sexual turn-on type of scenes also felt trashy - showing off Megan Fox and that other girl, who was a robot, seemed like a desparate attempt at generating audience arousal at the expense of class and/or charm. It was disgusting to me (and probably wierd for little kids watching too).
Even Transformers I was better, imho. There was a decent plot with meaningful action and decently original (at the time) comedic points and situations. T2 just sucked at everything imo.
Thank goodness I only rented this for $1 from RedBox!!!

Also, what was up with Shia's mom in the movie? She seemed high on drugs with her crazy behavior....It was yet antoher inexplicabe, annoying, detracting element in the movie. Although it was slightly funny......but more wierd/sad.

It is one of the worst movies I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. It was, in fact, downright insulting. They think I want to see that ****? They think I will think it is cool for robots to cuss and have testicles? They think it is somehow cool to oversex EVERYTHING?
Regarding the mom: she ate pot brownies at one point if that is what you are talking about.

Hmmm, I vaguely remember that now about the pot. That does explain the craziness when she was with Shia at the college dorms. Still, she seemed already nutty prior to that too - like during the beginning of movie at the house. Oh well.
The movie mainly felt trashy, desparate, unfunny, unintelligent, un-tense, pointless/meaningless, and annoying.  Everything was wrong in this movie! 
It may just make my TOP 10 of all time worst movies ever.

I enjoyed the first Transformers movie quite a bit; but I have to agree - this film was total garbage.
Not only is everything solomosprayer mentioned true, but the most basic plot element didn't work.
The Fallen character wouldn't return to earth to start that energy generation machine until Optimus Prime was dead because, supposedly, only a prime could kill him. The movie also makes it pretty clear that Optimus and the Fallen are both Primes who either took part in the initial building/destruction of that machine, or they were descended from them. The huge gaping plot hole then is: Wouldn't the same rule, a prime can only be killed by another prime, apply to Optimus also? Yet he was taken down in the first half of the movie by getting jumped by about seven Decepticons.
Also, what would that say about Megatron? In the first movie they refer to each other as "brothers" which would make Megatron a prime as well; yet he was taken out by Shia LaBeouf. Hmmm...plot hole galore!

I thought it was awful too, but at times it was "funny" awful.
Like the fact that they just took the body of Megatron (a super dangerous robot who tried destroying the human race in movie 1), dumped it in the ocean and said "We'll never have to worry about him again!"
You'd think they'd at least dismantle him or keep him frozen again in some sort of military facility.
I realize that he's the franchises iconic villain, but you'd think they could have thought of a bit more creative way to bring him back.
Then there was robot Jesus (which was probably my favorite part) and the massive robot testicles.
That said, I actually kind of enjoyed the film in a "so over the top it's insane" sort of way. It was almost surreal at times. I don't think Michael Bay makes good movies, but he does have a distinct sensibility to his films, and is one of the only mainstream Hollywood directors who you could probably identify his films just by watching any random 30 second clip. And Transformers 2 is probably the most unabashedly "Michael Bay" Michael Bay has ever been. He's coming into his own in a big way, I think. In that sense, I think he's one of the last of the "Auteurs." So even if I don't love his films (Exactly), it will be interesting to see how he will try to top himself after Transformers 2. TRansformers 2 was so insane already, that I think if he pushes things just a tiny bit farther, Tranformers 3 could be the first ever 300 million dollar avant garde art film.

This movie wasn't even good enough to be considered awful...it was just way so wrong on so many levels. I paid money in the theater to see this, and was ready to walk out within the first 15 minutes to half hour. The only thing that kept me there was the thought that "this is Transformers, it's gotta get better". WROOOOOONG!! I was very much ashamed to still be sitting there when I saw the robot testicles someone mentions, and noticed there were kids sitting in these seats watching this junk.
This movie disgusted me so much I came right home and threw away anything I had associated with the first Transformers movie...my DVD, anything...and I told everyone I knew not to waste their money on it. I will never watch another Michael Bay movie, and I will never watch another Transformers movie unless they start over and get someone else other than Michael Bay to do it. He doesn't deserve to have his hands on the franchise I grew up with.
This was not Transformers. I'll GLADLY stick with my 1986 Transformers movie and all the animated series over this garbage.
And I agree on the major plothole with the Fallen. I kept thinking the same thing, only my thought was more that if Megatron and Optimus are brothers, then Megatron's a Prime descendent also which means he can kill the Fallen, so why did he spend the whole movie afraid of him? But anyway...

You know...I really don't think they were brothers like siblings. Kind of like mates in a brotherhood. They were members of the same species.
That makes a huge difference IMO.

Maybe true, we don't know for sure. But if it's as you say, then it still leaves Narcil's point valid...Optimus should not have been killed by anyone but the Fallen, yet he was.
That massive plothole aside, the bigger issue to me with Prime and the Fallen was they set the whole movie up for their fight, and it lasted what, a minute?? He got the new armor and the battle was over just as fast.
Obvoiusly I'm extremely passionate in my displeasure for this movie

Hey, I enjoyed watching it in the IMAX theater. I don't think I'll watch the film again, but giant robots in IMAX was cool enough to sustain my interest.

i LIKED IT. IT WASNT THE BEST moive iseen. i saw it twice in theaters. their already makeing third transfomers 2011. now all we need is go-botS moive.does any one rember go-bots? i think they came out before tranfomers.

Thanks man... now I have the jingle for Go-Bots stuck in my head. If there was ever a show, I didn't watch it.
I'd love to see a G-Force movie--I mean the real G-Force, not the guinea pigs.

I seem to recall that there was a Go-Bots cartoon, not sure how long it lasted though. I liked them because they were almost all the size of Hot Wheels, which made it easier to take them places to play with...not that I would have done that at school or anything.

Yea.. my hubby and kids wanted to see this waste of film called a movie. It was this stupid oversexed hunk of junk with blowups, drug induced whatever you want to call Shias mom and Megan Fox running around with her boobs bobbing.. It bordered on hypnotic at some points.
