In which of the following ways were you led to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ? (more detail listed here) *note- If you grew up in a family of believers and that eventually led you to believe also the answer would be #1. 1.A friend or family member gave you the gospel or invited you to church/bible study/christian event where you heard the gospel 2.A total stranger gave you the gospel or invited you to church/bible study/christian event where you heard the gospel 3.You found or somebody gave you a tract which motivated you to go to church or recieve christ. 4. A Television or radio evangelist 5. Some other way (describe if you wish)

None of the above. My grandmother and mother both lived and shared their faith. My pastor asked me one day if I had ever received Christ as Savior and I couldn't say yes. Some time later, an acquaintance shared the Gospel with me and I believed, repented, and then received the gift of eternal life. It was over the course of 15 years from birth until I was born again through the witness of several family, friends, pastors, and acquaintances that led to my new birth.

book authors had a big role in it for me: I can't say whether long dead authors who nonetheless took the time to write such things supposing that others would find their words intelligible and helpful shoudl be considered friends or strangers.

I do not think how I was led to Christ is nearly as important as how I have tried to follow him.

Mine is a combination of a few od them. I was raised in church, and I started having questions about salvation, but I never did get around to asking anyone. Then my two best friends were going to a billy graham confrence, and their mom let me go with them one night. That night I realized that I was a sinner, and even though I did not repent, that was almost the happiest day of my life. I didn't do anything with that knowlege, and I suddenly got very interested in Revelations. I was reading through some of the left behind books and they really scared me. One night GOD was convicted me of all these things so much I couldn't take it. I was pacing the floor, trying to think of anything to do to make it quit. And then I let go. It was wonderful, and the most excellent peace flowed through me. GOD is good.

Amway. No kidding. I was going to build a big business and leave my husband of 15 years, to raise our 10 year old daughter. We'd been with it about 9 months and I had been hearing the gospel on the Sunday mornings following their quarterly rallies. I went to a women's Artistry makeup seminar and while there, I heard our upline triple diamond talk about her relationship with Jesus. She talked about how her husband could never meet the spiritual needs she had; only Jesus could. I already knew my marriage was a wreck and I left the room crying and ran smack into another of my upline. She sent me home that weekend with her own bible and a bible study. I spent the next two weeks reading both and calling my upline with questions about what I was reading. One morning, while I was doing the study, I was so convicted of my sin that I found myself on the floor just sobbing and telling God how sorry I was for what I had cost Him. I fully expected God to squash me like a bug!!! The next moment, I was so completely aware of His love for me, in Jesus, that all I could do was sob, "Thank You, Thank You". My husband went forward at an alter call, 2 months later and we've been walking by faith for the last 13 years. It's been crazy, scary, exciting and I wouldn't trade a minute of it, even the rough times, for anything the world could offer. We are blesssed to have a small part in sharing the gospel with teens and young adults and I can hardly wait to see what will happen next. Blessings, Melanie

Thanks for putting this post here. I wonder what are some of the more common ways people come to know Jesus? For myself, I'd say Number 5. I was quite young. My family was friends with another family who had 2 kids the same age as my bro and I. Their Grandpa was a minister and was doing the sermon at a local turist chapel. He was the designated minister for the chapel for the summer. My family went to the chapel because we wanted to be moral support for this guy why he was doing his summer term. I'd heard about coming to know Jesus before, but that night when our friend's Grandpa told it, it all made sense. After the sermon, I went away from everyone else and found a place alone by myself behind a bush. I asked Jesus to come into my life there. That's where my relationship with God started from my vantage point. And that was only the start. I have had real troubles in life; I for sure haven't always lived like I should. But God is so unbelievably different than me; He is a faithful friend like none that could be found anywhere else.

#5 I was led to Him broken and on my knees one night while separated from my wife many years ago, so I was alone and aghast at the realization of my sins. I came to find I couldn't fix it by myself. I felt I had indeed plummeted to the depths of hell that night. The love and care He showed me in the days following is what convinced me. There's been no turning back.

Though there were various people involved (one mainly) the way I remember it is that God held my arm behind my back and kept my face in the dirt until I said, "Uncle!".

It wud be #5 for me. There were various christians throughout my life and i wud listen to them. Then in the 80s i ran across this Mennonite Minister who counseled me and i said the prayer and was later baptized. Thru this minister and a high school music teacher i became acquainted with scripture and christian literature. Basic Christianity by John Stott had a profound effect on me. There were weekly bible studies and prayer meetings. Thru that church i learned much of scripture and was under the care of a real christian community.

Friend or family member. I grew up in a Christian home. But it wasn't until I was 13 that I comprehended what it was all about.... and that was largely through fellowship with other Christians that inspired me. It was during that time that I joined this forum.

I was working on a ladder painting a room in a house and the radio station picked up WFIL and I was to lazy to climb down and change it so I listened to it until I needed more paint. After a while I was getting in to what the person said and about one hr later I was on my knees praying and balling my eyes out. Today I have changed but I have a long road ahead of me and I know it will not be easy. Thursday morning I am to have breakfast at a local restaurant with a Pastor from a local Church. I asked if his Church has a Bible study groups that will help a 53 year old person that knows very little. He is taking time out of his busy schedule to meet me and talk about it. Every day there has been something positive happening. I will always remember how I was led to Jesus but the thing that has me more concerned is about knowing him.

A combination of 4 and 5. I was depressed and angry and was considering ending my life or even others. I saw a televangilist talking about faith and then through a music video I saw, I began to think about if my life had been worth living. Somehow a question was posed in my heart that said what I was considering might cost me my life, did I believe in heaven or in hell? I gave the question honest thought and I gave an honest answer. Heaven i could believe in but not hell. I then had a dream which showed me how real hell was and i began to realize that God was talking to me. I told Him I believed that hell was real but I wasn't ready for Him. He gave me more understanding about death without Him and I knew that I needed to become a christian. So I told Him I would someday but not now. Funny how we want our ways with God on our terms and not His. I saw the televangilist again and this time he drew a line. He said someone out there's had jesus knocking on the door of your heart and you haven't opened the door. It's too late for you, he said. I panicked and cried out to God to not leave me. I awoke the next morning full of joy and I began to see God work miracles for me and do what I could not. I found out later that my sisters mother in law, a baptist, was praying for me. I did not meet this woman for 4 more years after this event. It has been 18 years now and i would not trade it for anything.

Funny how we want our ways with God on our terms and not His you know, after I posted this, I was thinking about how much these words speak into my current situation. I have been frustrated over the last few days because I'm not seeing the promise of God for my marriage coming to pass. I'm tired and I want to see this situation over. Nothing seems to be getting better. My own words remind me that it has to be on His terms and not mine. If He is Lord then I need to let Him work out His will. Thanks

I first believe when i was 8 years old because of school teachings. Then at about 20 i started to realize that i didn't love God. Because of all the suffering in the world. for all my life i tried to love Him but couln't. Just could'nt believe that He was a loving God. Where is God's love in this suffering world? Also, in my mind i was not a sinner and didn't need Jesus. I was not doing any real bad things: no murders or anything really bad... Then at 46 an agnostic told me to read Chaos and Harmony, a science book about the marvels of the Universe. It was a spiritual big bang for me! It gave a strong boost to my faith and i began to see God's love in His creation. Then i watch a video from a Jew, about beauty in the world. He said why is there beauty in the world? He said because God knew we were coming on this earth and that beauty is for us. It made me think a lot. I concluded that it was an act of love from God. Then i taught about john 3:16 And it was a direct 'hit' in my heart. This is the ultimate proof of God's love. But it still took me several testimonies on internet to convince myself to give my life to Jesus and to admit i was a sinner. But then one night i got on my knees and gave my life to Jesus and accepted Him as my savior.

ORIGINAL: stefanodrums I received an e mail with a link to http://www.livingwaters.com/good and http://www.wayofthemaster.com I love the way of the master, and I just read Kirk Cameron's autobiography which was worth the read. For me it was 31 years of failures and heartache that led me to the realization that I needed God. I grew up in the catholic church, and always believed in God, I just didn't live like it. But with all that has happened to me over the years, good and bad, it has led me to Him.

I was dead (in my transgressions and sins), and like Jesus calling Lazarus from the tomb, found myself drawn to Him and His truth. I guess that would be #5.

Several books came into my life -- and several Christians spent hours with me, over the course of months, when I was in a very weird (New Age) place. Prolonged personal witness. I could not argue effectively against their compassion.

Question and choices were worded fine some people look in on posts a number of times many times to follow others answers or see if any replies to their post, and a few will just read and not post. You have a good ratio going. Answered #5 have already posted testimony so would just say forced to church then not permitted to leave world, Had to find out what it was about and it made sence.
