Voted on Sat the 25th. I work in Harris County Texas, right next door to a polling place. The lines here were LONG. I sorta expected the same thing where I live (next county over, still rural). Got there about nine in the morning and walked right in and got the the machine with no wait. There were about 12 machines and they were all in use. Voted straight party ticket. First time I ever did that. Took about three minutes from the time I walked in the door till I walked out.

Quick, as it was in 2006 and in 2004. In all 3 situations, I simply had to walk to a nearby public school. There were no lines. It was still very early, and I didn't even have to present photo ID (which I do not agree with - just in case, I brought 3 proofs of address: 2 recent bills and the very sample ballot sent by my state's board of elections as well as my driver's license and passport). I spent perhaps a total of 5 minutes inside. They found my name, I signed twice, and voted. I know he won't win, but the representative of the Constitution Party, Chuck Baldwin, got my vote.

We waited about forty-five minutes or so.

I was pleasantly surprised. We were back home in about an hour. The polling place was very crowded but things moved quickly and smoothly. The poll workers did a GREAT job! There was not that much of a crowd when we left (around 7:30am) so I think most people tried to get there before work.

Just, literally, got home from voting. I get out of work at 7. That was when the polls opened. When I got there at 7:45, there was a long line....probably a hundred people in front of me. I got home at 9. Here in Florida we are still suffering over the percieved problems of 2000. For the third presidential election they are trying something new.....paper ballots that you fill in an oval to vote then feed it into a machine to read it. It was a long wait about an hour and 15 minutes, but it went pretty smoothly. A few people who weren't registered and they slowed things down.

It was fine, it was when they first opened so there were no crowds, just showed our ID and voted. Then visited with some friends for a while. Thanks RC

I was very surprised. I had heard on the news last night that my precinct had the largest registered population for the city. I think many others heard that too, so we all showed up early. The line was wrapped around the hotel. I got there at 6:40 & it was a good thing I got there early even though the line was around the building. Once the lines opened, everything went very smoothly. I noticed the letter groups had been changed since the primaries & that seemed to help w/ keeping the lines uniform. I got to the table in 5 minutes! Traffic was pretty bad getting out, so I'm glad some policemen showed up to assist. I did make it to work on time. It's pretty quiet up here, so many must have waited till 7! kd

Took about 45 minutes to actually get to the station. Not much problem at all.

I got my sticker. I plan to use it for a free cup of Starbucks coffee. If I play this right I could hit several different Starbucks today. No problems voting it just took over an hour even though we got there when the polls opened. Next election I think I may be voting absentee.

For Starbucks to give out free coffee to only those who vote it could be seen as pandering for votes. So, they have had to redefine their offer and they now will give out a free tall coffee to anyone.

ORIGINAL: rcjames just showed our ID Wow, what a novel concept!! NEVER in my entire history of voting in this Democrat Machine city... have they ever asked for ID. I arrived when the polls opened at 6:00 AM sharp and there were 8 people in front of me. The entire process took 25 minutes because I just had to vote no on every judge on the ballot.

Just think how many conservative christians would have voted if Krispie Kremes handed out free donuts to those who voted...McCain would win in a landslide.

Dunkin Donuts is giving free coffee to those who have an "I voted" sticker. I'm hoping that the Chipotle here is giving free burritos again this year.
