How much was the most expensive purse you ever bought?

I'm just curious. I was roaming around a Parisian looking at purses (I was there to get some new Laura Mercier camouflage, but they never seem to be at the counter in the mornings so I was trying to waste some time.) I love the way some brands look, but the only expensive purses I have right now were gifts.

165 for a dooney and burke.

I've been using it for 3 or 4 years straight though. It's starting to wear out though so I am not sure if I'll get another one. I like Coach as well.

i have not found a fall purse that I like at all. It must just be me.

I think the most expensive was $25 on sale. I got it about 5.5 years ago and just retired it when the snap on teh wallet that came with it wore out. I just bought a small purse/wallet all in one.

I paid $60.00 for a Phillipe purse probably 24 years ago--so it would be much more than that in today's dollars. It lasted over 10 years, and finally the zipper broke and I just got sick of it.

There are some D&B and Gucci purses that I love, but the Gucci purses can go for over $2,000. I saw one that was near $5,000. My sister loves Coach purses, but they do last a long time. I met a woman in the hospital the last time I was having surgery, and she told me she still has some from the '70's that are still in very good shape.

Yeah I don't know why my dooney is falling apart. I forgot if it has a warranty. I was told the coach ones do. I would have called and complain, except my cat chewed on the strap when I wasn't looking.

I like the burberry ones too.

I can understand buying a purse that will last long. I'd rather buy something now for a little more that will last longer... well, I would do that if I had the money. Some expensive purses that I've gotten as gifts have worn out quickly though.

Me too. It evened out to spending 40.00 a purse for 4 years, esp since the patterns stayed the same.

I started carrying a purse about 5 years ago when they stopped letting me take a backpack into WalMart and the mall and places like that. I've only ever had one and it was less than $15... I had a gift card to a store I don't shop at and that was the only thing I could find there that I thought I might use. I'm looking forward to replacing the purse with a diaper bag, so I don't anticipate buying a new purse anytime soon. It's not something I care about enough to spend much money on, anyhow.

Mine are usually just about functionality (although I like a cute purse) so I don't spend more than $15 or so.

Right now I'm carrying a really cute purse I got on clearance at JC Penney. It's stylish and not too huge yet with enough compartments to carry diapers and wipes and baby snacks. I only carry my cell phone, small wallet, and keys personally. It's kind of a light bronze color so it goes with all seasons, reallly.

Under $50... I'm TJMaxx girl when it comes to purses. The only purses I every pay "full price" for are Liz Claiborne, which I normally get when I have a coupon to the outlet store or they are on sale.

Probably about $40.

I tend to buy a new purse from H&M every season. I don't buy a lot of new clothes each season so I like to buy a very in style purse to update my wardrobe. I've never spent more than $40 on one at H&M.

$30 - and it's lasted 3 years so far. My last one was $20 and lasted 5 years.

I honestly don't like most of the upper end designer bags...they are much too gaudy for my taste.

I think the most I've spent was $45. I do buy good ones and my purses last for many years because I change them often depending on what I'm wearing.

I don't think I"ve ever spent much more than $20-$30. Now I make my own. I've been itching for a new one, just need to pick out some fabric.

How about a Hermes Birkin for $55,000? JK....I saw one on ebay. I think it had gold and diamonds on it.

I like Coach bags ($300-400), they are quality and keep their value. Plus, if you get bored with it you can sell it on ebay and put the money towards another one.

The most expensive one I have personally ever bought was $5 on clearance at WalMart. It lasted 2 years, and really, the only reason I changed it was because my dear friend ended up buying the same one... what make it bizzare is neither of us live in America... we both were there, within 6 months of each other, and chose the same purse. We like to say great mids think a like.

I have a Bass purse right now that was a gift and I love it. I have no idea how much those run or how much she paid, but it's prefect for me. It's like this one but a darker brown.

I have a friend who has been dying for a Coach purse and finally got one on sale for $230. Seriously, I wouldn't buy it if I saw it in a $10 clearance bin. To me, they look cheap because they are so gaudy and "busy".

My favorite brand is Nine West. I love their simple, classic styles, and they last for years. Now, we have a Nine West outlet, so I get them all at really great prices.

Yup, me too. Nine West is typically the brand I end up buying...

We have such good taste, Karlie

Coach does actually have some very nice purses, I love their all leather bags. Like THIS, except I prefer the mahogany color. However, for an all-leather purse I usually just buy Fossil.

Mine was about $15, I think. I had to buy a new one about four years ago when I was pregnant with Timothy, because I spilled a urine sample in my old one at the doctor's office.

I can't believe I just typed that. I swore I'd never tell anyone, and here I am posting this on the internet of all places! <slaps forehead>

That one is a nice one. Most I see are so dazzling, it's crazy! Still, for the price of a Coach, I'd rather have 5 or 6 new ones from Nine West or Liz Claiborne

I like that Coach, too, and I'm like Karlie- normally not a fan of Coach style (although I am a fan of quality.) I do own a couple of Nine Wests, so our taste is probably similar. Our Nine West Outlet store closed!!
