So I am in college...and working nearly full time(this week is a 40 hour week) My major is music performance...well...I am trying to do this, and my grades really are quite alright, In two of my classes they are b's, and in my other class that I have grade right now, it's only so low because I missed 1 quiz due to work classes, and also because I got in a D in our first test(after working third shift)
But...my private teacher basically yelled at me yesterday...I was squite unprepared, and she is questioning my commitment and everything like that. She even sent the lesson summary to the head of the department.
Everything was going alright up until now. So I guess my question is this:how much longer do I try to do this?

Can you cut back on your work hours?

Okay, as a former music major I'm going to sit down with you and say this in the nicest way possible....um, you WON'T be able to pull that off and maintain your sanity. The classes will get harder, and especially with a performance degree it will demand much TIME practicing.

I know it is difficult to have to support yourself through this. In reality, your options to be successful are:
1) cut back on credit hours so your workload can support
2) seek the aid of your financial aid office
or
3) cut back on the number of hours worked.

I know it is tough. I had to support myself through grad school (music) and most semesters I only took a half load because that was all I could handle. But if you are working to support your education at the cost of you getting the most out of your education, then you're merely working for a degree.

And like I said I mean that with all the love possible as one who's "been there, done that".
