I've only done that once, and that's because my knees couldn't handle the job. It was just a little painful. The boss understood.

No, but I did after two weeks. I figured I may as well at least get enough money back to cover the uniform I bought and also to give reasonable notice to keep a good record.

Yes, I did. It was working for a tele-marketing company. I hated it. Had to stick to a script. Worked one day and never went back. Got $35 for my trouble.

Yes. I made it from starting to lunch. It was making "cold calls" to schedule "appointments" for a vacuum cleaner sales company. I hated the job, but I also felt like they were dishonest--we were required to schedule appointments even if the company had deemed the people "unable to afford the product" and would not keep the appointment.... I told the supervisor when I left that I was appalled at that practice...and reminded them that these people who today might not be making enough money for this purchase, would be in a few years, and they WOULD remember this and the company will have lost a potential customer (and maybe more than one if they told others about their experience), but if they kept the appointment (or didn't make it in the first place) they would build good will and may have a future sale.

No, but the shortest time I stayed at a job was two weeks. I did this twice. The first was for a chain shoe store. It was the most boring thing I ever did - I fixed shoes over and over - customers would mess them up, then I'd fix them again. The second was for a bank that sold credit cards. I had to call people and sell them credit cards over the phone (yeah, this was a long time ago - when you could do that). It was awful. I had a script, couldn't ever go to the bathroom except during a break. The last straw was when I got this poor woman in the nursing home. She wanted the credit card, but it was obvious that she didn't really know what she was getting. So, I gently let her know that this might not be the best deal for her and got off the phone. I was there for two weeks, took two weeks off, and then promptly quit.

Yes - the day I reported to work at a community college, my supervisor informed me the job had changed from 1/2 teaching & 1/2 marketing to full time marketing. I'm not a marketer.

Worked in a place, where you were allowed to smoke in the room where we worked. I didn't realize this when I accepted the job. It took my sinuses quite awhile to get over that 8 hours.

I did It was for a law office and the position was a receptionist. It was suppose to be a temp assignment for about 6-8 months since I was waiting for another position at another company for in my field. I quit the first day, actually two hours after arriving when I found out from the supervisor that the original receptionist was coming back the next day and in the meantime they wanted me to be a file clerk, I said no way. After paying nearly $30 for parking and driving to San Francisco, need I say I was more than a little peeved. Oh well. A month or so later I got my dream job at a real estate investment firm and worked with a great staff. That was five years ago. Now I'm semi-retired and working as a domestic engineer and attending college.

Oh, good night! Someone tried to do that to me, too, when I was a temp! I left immediately. I just cannot stand it when people are dishonest. But I also quit on the first day on another job. It turned out to be tedious factory work -- another dishonest hiring.
