Hi there,

I've got HP Pavillion dv6720ec notebook. The problem is I hate Vista(too slow and needless) and I wanna install Win XP. BUT HP doesn't provide all the neccesary device drivers (graphics, modem audio...). Does anyone has similiar problem?

Thats a common problem right now, unfortunately. We had to format one or two Dell laptops that came with vista, but yes all the drivers are not available.

Three places to get drivers:
1. computer maker (you've already tried that)
2. the hardware manufacturer (such as the maker of the cpu, dvd drive, etc.)
3. www.driverguide.com you need to register but you can find out what folks have done with your hardware

Don't know if you've tried either 2 or 3, just a though...

What version of Vista are you running?
there are alot of mods you can do to vista to get it running back very similar to xp.
I know, I know, you like what you had, but give it a chance!
Also check your msconfig and make sure you dont have tons of programs running in the background. The OS will very rarely slow down your system, it is usually background programs clogging your ram.
Also if this is a laptop, make sure you are using a cooling pad. Cool computer = fast computer.

I know I did it long time ago but still ... I'm using home premium ed. so I think there's no downgrade available. Even if I'd still need those drivers for WinXP (which aren't supported by HP). So I'll have to get some third party (hacked or manualy built) drivers.

I honestly don't care if it's legal or not. Just want my XP up and running. Vista are terribly NEEDLESS and should NEVER be released as a laptop system. (just freakin' but I mean it).

The problem is that Vista was supposed to be a completely rewritten OS requiring upgraded hardware, so that is why there isn't a complete set of drivers for both xp and vista. It wasn't supposed to be a standard upgrade from xp to vista.

In time there may be, but for now you'll have to pick which OS you want to deal with.

OK

www.driverguide.com is cool site. I found drivers for my 8400M GS graphic card there.
Now I can't find drivers for my nVidia nForce Networking Controller

Hi guys,

soooooo I've managed to somehow get all the WinXP drivers for HP Pavilion dv6720ec together and they're working like a charm. (Graphics, Sound, Network, Webcam.... it all works ). Anybody experiencing the same issues as I did or anyone interested can mail me at: jacobnzw@gmail.com.
I'll provide them for you. Or we can settle on where I shoul upload them.
