It really depends on which one you go to, as most family medicine doctors ares DOs and there is starting as not to be a big difference between the two.

After a certain point, they end up being equal, but I think a lot of it just depends.

A LOT of people I know won't get a D.O. a chance because they consider them to not have been "good enough" to make it into medical school, and honestly, I do know some people who had good grades/MCAT/extra-cirriculars and didn't get into med school, but could get into D.O. school and went. After that though, they can go through the same residencies, etc. So, in the end, I don't think anyone is "better." It depends on if people feel strange because their doctor didn't technically go to med school I find. I guess it's like a stigma almost with some people.

I see an MD or a PA for most things, but I go to a DO for manipulations because he is covered by our insurance but a chiropractor is not. He is, however, one of the few DO's in our area who is actually trained/practicing manipulation the rest are basically just MD's in disguise.

I've had a DO as my PCP for 18yrs. I'm crazy about him-he is also skilled in Sports Medicine and once got a knot out of my back by doing a manipulation.
