I'll admit it freely. Its my favorite adult beverage. I love a good beer and am always interested in trying new styles, foreign beers, micro-brews, etc. I'd like to actually be able to study up on some of this, though, and learn what makes some beers taste better, how different beers are brewed, what classifies a good beer, and other finer aspects of the trade. Can anyone recommend me good reference sources or books on the subject of learning how to be a conosouire (spelling?) of beer?

I believe it is "connoisseur," and I would just google it, or go to the library.
You might want to check the local paper/free weekly, see if any restaurants or local breweries are having tastings.
What makes some beers taste better is fairly subjective - as it what makes a "good" beer. For example, my line of beer is made from flaxseed, as I am gluten-free. I think it tastes pretty good, but others didn't like it as much. Or might want to argue it isn't really beer.
I'm more for drinking it, than talking about it m'self.
