I took exception to this statement and then realized perhaps I should see what the women of crosswalk have to say. I will reserve any followup questions until I see some replies (if anyone replies). Please just take the statement at face value and vote with your gut instinct/feeling if you aren't sure. Are most Christian men lazy & insecure?

No way. Some, a few - but not most.

Perhaps a bit insecure at times, but we all have those moments. How many guys try to be a "good christian" and wonder if they will someday be found out? Lazy? not so much.

I dont' believe that men are lazy and insecure. I think the reason men have become passive has do to a lot of reasons. Our culture have been emasculating men for a long time now. Just look at all the male bashing jokes, the dimwitted male characters on TV. Those portrayal of men send messages that good men are spineless. Another reason is the confusion in their roles as male and we women have a lot to do with how this evolved.

No - sounds like maybe someone had some bad experiences and is now generalizing. Laziness and insecurity are human/character traits that are not related to gender.

I agree with Tricia's dividing up the question into 2. This is my observation and experience from all the Christian men I met so far, of course it may not be representative: Lazy - mostly not. But they may be more laid back and not initiative enough. Insecure - a lot. Those who are insecure may stay single for a longer time. Those who are secure usually managed to get married.

The committed Christian men I know are trying their best to follow the Lord. That involves serving others through volunteering in the church and community, helping people move, going on mission trips, etc., so "lazy" wouldn't fall into that category. As for insecure, I have noticed insecurity in some Christian men, but like ta_mosquito says, women have that trait too. And I'd venture to say that might be more of a singles trait than a gender trait.

well, first off, I sure hope they are not! I do not know a lot of Christian men unfortunately. I guess my fear if you can call it that, is that I will not find a Christian man that is they type of man I am attracted to. The ones that I do know are not "manly" if that is the right word... I mean, I like a manly man, one who is tough and rugged, strong and in charge. I want him to love the Lord, but I don't want a wimp either. I am sure they are out there, but locally I just have not seen them. Of course, locally there are not very many of them and in my old church, they were all like senior citizens! I am hoping that now that we have moved, this new church will have more men my age. I guess when I think of Christian men, I just get the thoughts of men who are not strong or strong willed, men that are nerdy or wimpy, etc.. None of which I am attracted to. Present company excluded fearno, of course! I just mean in general. I bet if I lived in a more metropolitan area or down south where Christian men are more prominently found, I would have different experiences.

I have attended several churches now. Most single men I see are the type you described above. As for the "manly" ones, are either long married or not Christian at all.

I found it interesting that in (I think it was the) Men Only version of the "Is the Church Too Feminine" topic, someone mentioned how we women in this thread don't think Christian men are lazy, but we blame men for being lazy when they don't step up to lead in the local church, thus the church seeming too feminine when the women have to step up to fill the roles left by the men. So... I'd like to amend my answer. I do think a lot of Christian men ARE lazy when it comes to stepping up in the local church, and it probably does stem from insecurity (they don't think they're capable of the task, or a good enough Christian, or whatever) or maybe just from laziness (not wanting to invest the time necessary but wanting to do their own thing). But in family life or life in general, most Christian men are not lazy.

None of the Christian men that I know are either lazy or insecure. And those men have my, and most women's, admiration and respect. Those who refuse to do what they are called to do aren't called men.

My other concern with some Christian men is that they are Christian in name only. Put on a good face at church, may even volunteer, all to look good in the eyes of others, but live far from a good Christian life. This could go for women too, but since the question was about men.....
